ISED certification (Canada)
also: ISED · ISED certification number · ICES-003 · RSS-Gen
Canada's radio and EMC approval regime, run by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada; similar to FCC rules, with its own requirements.
Products sold in Canada follow rules from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). Unintentional emitters such as digital devices are assessed against ICES-003 and carry a compliance statement. Radio transmitters must meet the applicable Radio Standards Specifications (RSS-Gen plus band-specific standards) and be certified, receiving an ISED certification number.
Much of the testing overlaps with FCC Part 15, so labs commonly test for both at once, but ISED has its own requirements, including notices in both English and French in user documentation and its own labeling rules, and certification is a separate application.
Founder takeaway
If Canada is a likely market, have your test lab plan FCC and ISED testing together to avoid paying twice.
